Worker reference
The Meris worker is one file, meris-worker.mjs, with no dependencies. The install command puts it in the .meris folder in your user folder, together with a private copy of Node.js when your computer does not already have Node.js 22.4 or newer. You can download the worker directly from app.meris.network/downloads/meris-worker.mjs and read it; it is a few hundred lines.
You never need these commands for normal use: the install command pairs and starts the worker, and the Worker page in the app manages it. They are here for when you want to check on it or change something by hand.
Commands
Run them in PowerShell (Windows) or Terminal (macOS, Linux).

~\.meris\meris start # start it in the background, and at every log-in
~\.meris\meris uninstall # remove it from this computer and your account
~\.meris\meris pair K7QD-3MXA # link this computer with a code from the app
~\.meris\meris run # run in this window instead (Ctrl+C stops)

~/.meris/meris helpOptions
| Option | Used with | Effect |
|---|---|---|
--name <name> | pair | Device name shown in the app. Defaults to the computer's name. You can also rename it in the app. |
--server <url> | pair, run | Meris server. Defaults to https://app.meris.network. |
--vram <GB> | start, run, status | Sets GPU memory when it cannot be detected, or caps what the network sees. With start it is remembered; start --vram 0 clears it. |
Running in the background
start (which the install command runs for you) starts the worker without a window and registers it to start again when you log in:
| System | How it starts at log-in |
|---|---|
| Windows | An entry named MerisWorker under Startup apps in Settings. |
| macOS | A login item, network.meris.worker in ~/Library/LaunchAgents, that restarts it if it stops unexpectedly. |
| Linux | A systemd user service, meris-worker.service. Without systemd it starts now but not after a reboot; run start again then. |
stop turns that off until you run start again. Removing the GPU in the app does the same from anywhere.
Files
Everything lives in ~/.meris (C:\Users\<you>\.meris on Windows):
| Path | Contents |
|---|---|
meris-worker.mjs | The worker. |
meris (meris.cmd on Windows) | The short command used above. |
node/ | The private Node.js, if the installer downloaded one. |
worker.json | Server address, device name and device token. Readable only by you on macOS and Linux. |
worker.log | What the background worker did, kept small. |
worker.pid, state.json, update.json | Bookkeeping for start, stop, status and updates. |
The device token (mw_…) is what proves to Meris that this computer is yours. Treat it like a password. If it leaks, remove the GPU in the app; that invalidates the token.
What the worker sends
On connect: the worker version, your OS, GPU name, vendor, VRAM, driver and your time zone (used for the region breakdown and the globe on the Network page).
Every five seconds: GPU utilisation, VRAM in use and temperature (NVIDIA only), and whether the card is busy with something else.
The worker never reads your files, never opens ports on your computer, and only connects out to the Meris server.
Updates
The worker updates itself. When Meris requires a newer version, the worker downloads it, restarts and reconnects on its own; your pairing is kept. Running the install command again also updates it.
Uninstall
~\.meris\meris uninstall~/.meris/meris uninstallThis stops the worker, removes it from starting at log-in, removes the GPU from your account and deletes the .meris folder, including the private Node.js. Earnings already made stay in your balance.
