Troubleshooting

The quickest fix for most problems: copy the command from the Worker page in the app again and paste it once more. It is safe to repeat; it keeps the same GPU in your account.

To see what the worker is doing, open PowerShell (Windows) or Terminal (macOS, Linux) and run:

powershell
~\.meris\meris status
~\.meris\meris logs
sh
~/.meris/meris status
~/.meris/meris logs

status shows the pairing, the GPU the worker sees and whether it is running. logs shows what it did recently.

"Pairing failed"

The code in the command was already used or is older than 15 minutes. Copy the command again from the Worker page; it always has a fresh code.

Nothing happens after pasting, or the text appears in red

  • Windows: make sure you pasted into PowerShell, not the old Command Prompt. Press the Windows key, type PowerShell and press Enter, then paste again.
  • macOS and Linux: make sure the whole command was pasted on one line, then press Enter.
  • At work or school, the network may block downloads. Try from home.

"Started, but it has not connected yet"

The worker is running but could not reach Meris within a few seconds. Check that app.meris.network loads in your browser; it keeps retrying on its own. Corporate proxies that block WebSockets stop the worker from connecting. logs shows the reason.

No GPU detected, or 0 GB of VRAM

  • NVIDIA: run nvidia-smi in a terminal. If it fails, reinstall the driver from nvidia.com.
  • AMD on Windows: the worker cannot read VRAM there. Tell it your card's memory in GB, for example ~\.meris\meris start --vram 16. It remembers this.
  • Inside a virtual machine or container: pass the GPU through, or use --vram as above.

Without VRAM information the computer lends nothing and earns nothing.

My GPU is online but does not earn

Check the GPU in the app:

  • Its Serve jobs switch is on. Paused means it is switched off.
  • It does not say Stepped aside. That means the card was busy with something else, such as a game. It comes back on its own once the card is free.
  • It has VRAM listed. See the section above.

It does not start after a restart

Run status. If At log-in says off, run start once. On Linux without systemd, the worker cannot register itself and has to be started again after each reboot.

"Another copy of this worker connected"

The same pairing is running on two computers, or twice on one. Each pairing can have one connection; the newest wins. Pair every computer with its own command from the app.

"This device was removed from its account"

The GPU was removed in the app, so the worker stopped and will not start again. To add it back, copy the command from the Worker page and paste it again.

Remove it completely

Press Remove next to the GPU in the app to stop it. To also delete its files, run uninstall; see Uninstall.

Still stuck
